Lodge Information:

The Bombay Lodge No. 648 I.C. holds a significant place in the history of Irish Freemasonry in India, as it was the first Irish Lodge in Bombay (now Mumbai) to admit Indian members. Established in 1933, this Lodge has become a leading Irish Masonic institution in the city, contributing three Provincial Grand Masters to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Western India and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ireland in India. Initially petitioned by Indian Brethren, it was named "The Bombay Lodge" to reflect its roots. Over the years, the Lodge has celebrated numerous milestones, including its Silver and Golden Jubilees, and the 75th anniversary in 2008, marked by the presence of international Masonic leaders. The Lodge has also been a center for Masonic Study and Ritual working, including a reconstruction of 19th-century Irish Masonic Ritual in full costume in 1970. In 2008-09, it further enriched its Masonic activities by establishing the Bombay Royal Arch Chapter No. 648 I.C. As it approaches its Centenary, the Bombay Lodge No. 648 I.C. continues to reflect a rich history of leadership, diversity, and dedication to Masonic principles. It's membership over the years has included several famous and notable Landlords, Professionals and Business Leaders of Mumbai City.
